Photojournalist Profile
Ruddy Roye
Ruddy Roye Radcliffe Roye (b. 1969) is a Jamaican born photographer living in Brooklyn who is a photojournalist that documents many editorial environmental shots for photojournalism. He worked out of himself and brought others along by his side throughout his own work. His work is displayed as emotional photography that allows viewers their own perspective on figuring out what the photo allows them to believe throughout his work. He gains feedback through his artwork he allows viewing to the public and the opinion based criticism.
The current era of the African American stereotype has currently been in this era and past eras throughout time. During this era, many views on the African American community have allowed less help and attention than any other race. But Roye's area is in the possession of motivating photography that brings new and exposed media to the front line of the news industry. His profession in photojournalism allowed others to see the perspective of why he was capturing a specific shot. This being said, Rudy Roye allows a new look into photojournalism by capturing argumental photography that captures the emotions of its viewers.
What motivated Rudy Roye is his ability to capture shots of the ongoing fight towards world peace tough the African American life in America. He not only finds photos that are voluntary towards his motive but he spreads his knowledge through all social media aspects. “he has multiple feeds that attempt to chronicle the reality of black life in America.” Ruddy Roye allows himself and anyone who partakes in his movement to document the ongoing struggle that African Americans face throughout life. Throughout many lives in this ethnic group, children start at a young age with a disadvantage due to the color of their skin in a stereotypical atmosphere. With these disadvantages, Ruddy Roye captures the unspoken dilemma that is continuous in our everyday lives.
His creative journalism uses high definition cameras that take quality photos to capture meaningful shots across the world. There is no true effect that is expressed through his work and is truly more of a journalist that allows help from others by allowing them to capture photography with anything and everything needed to find images. In doing this it allows him to provide a platform for himself and others to speak upon and grab better ideas off each other in finding something that will make a change in society's views. This technique finds alternative options to find the best image to present to the public with the highest standards of finding meaningful photojournalism.
The Journalist has encountered many different obstacles in coming into this field with the motive of only portraying the African American population but continues to strive without exception. Not only does he deal with conflict from other races but the underlying meaning of what obstacles are faced only for African Americans and no one else in society. Also due to the ethnic background, the journalist has been dealt with a disadvantage compared to the rest of the population due to his skin color. Not only has the photojournalist provided outgoing help to his community, but he also continues to provide key factors to the truth of life in America seen through an African American.
Many biases have arisen due to the culture that comes along with this photojournalist, but none to the full extent of losing the main meaning of influencing the ones in view of his description. Ruddy Roye provides a bias towards the harmful side effects of dealing with many things other civilians do not have to. Biases have arisen throughout his line of work due to the outspoken voice he uses to contact a higher standard of people who want to make a difference in the community. Due to the high restraint on what is allowed out for the public eye to see, many of the information found online does not allow the easiest truth to be told to the people who are curious. His voice provides a tough approach to reality in America but nothing other than the truth that shuts down and out the biases that have come about during his career.
Ruddy Roye represents himself as a whole in a community and is motivated by the ability to have capabilities of taking a photo when no one else can. As he states “I shoot because I see. I shoot because if I don’t, I don’t know who will.” He finds motivation in finding and capturing photos that if weren't taken, would never exist and maybe never of made a difference in the world. My motivations compare to this in the sense that, I will help someone in need no matter the situation knowing that I would be doing it as if no one was watching. No one would be there to capture the moment of assistance I have given for publicity rights.
